Part-Time Legal Bookkeeper

We are a well-established suburban law firm based in the Sutherland Shire and are seeking a Legal Bookkeeper to join our Accounts Department on a permanent part-time basis.

This role is ideally suited to an experienced Legal Bookkeeper or Legal Accounts Officer/Assistant. However, candidates with solid bookkeeping experience and a willingness to learn the specifics of legal accounting are also encouraged to apply.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the accurate management of the firm’s office and trust accounts, ensuring compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Trust receipts and payments, transfers and reconciliations
• Daily and monthly trust and office bank reconciliations
• End-of-month and end-of-year reporting
• Compliance with legal trust accounting obligations
• Controlled Money Accounts
• Office accounting including credit cards, cash flow and budgets
• Billing
• Payroll tax
• Creditor invoices
• PAYG and BAS

Skills & Experience

• Strong bookkeeping experience (legal experience highly regarded but not essential as training will be provided)
• Sound knowledge of legal trust accounting regulations (preferred but not essential)
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience with legal accounting software (preferred but not essential)
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to meet critical deadlines
• Honest, reliable and professional approach
